Disrupt Racial Profiling & Police Abuse

If stopped by the cops (with or without reason)...

  • Ask: "Why am I being stopped?"

  • Ask: "Am I free to go, or am I being detained?"

    • If you are detained, do not resist.

If asked to empty your pockets or submit to a search...

  • Ask: "Do you have a search warrant?"

    • If yes, ask to see the warrant.

    • If no, say and repeat: "I do not consent to a search."

      • If you are searched without consent, do not physically resist.

  • You do not have to show ID.

  • IF YOU ARE REACHING FOR ANYTHING IN YOUR POCKET, MAKE SURE POLICE OFFICERS KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND DO SO SLOWLY. NO SUDDEN MOVEMENTS.

Five main things:

  1. “I do not consent to a search”

  2. “Am I free to go?”

  3. “I will not talk, I want my lawyer”

  4. Remain silent.

  5. Call 1-800-Law-Rep-4

Know this like you know your ABC’s. These 5 points are things you need to be sharing with/shouting out when you see are supporting someone(s) stopped by the police.
