Our aim is to build an intergenerational collective, of mostly young people, that love and support each other in long-term movement-building. We intentionally focus on recruiting Akerele- young Black girls and women* ages 6-18. However, this summer, we are also looking for a few older Black women, age 18+, to join our collective and help coordinate our efforts.

Specifically, we want to hear from you if you are:
-An experienced community organizer;
-A teacher or experienced facilitator;
-Experienced in city farming;
-Interested in coordinating parents, volunteers, and transportation;
-Good at maintaining relationships with partner organizations; and/or
-Disciplined with keeping up with email and administrative tasks

Collective members are expected to work a minimum of 5 hours a week on Assata's Daughters tasks. Again, the focus is on our young people and it is their needs that are centered. We work hard, we push ourselves, we love and challenge each other, and we come together to get free.

If you apply, there is an extensive 3-week process for us to get to know each other better. Acceptance is dependent on how well an individual’s skills, capacity, and interests will support our young people's needs and desires. All applicants will receive an update on their application by June 5th. If not selected as a collective member this round, there are many volunteer opportunities to plug in and stay connected.

We have received an overwhelming interest from older people interested in joining, unfortunately, we are only able to add a small number of people. This is due to our commitment to center young people and to grow our collective at a sustainable pace.

*We are trying to explore, stretch, shatter, rebuild, re-create, re-imagine, celebrate Black girlhood and womanhood.
We come together as people who find power/questions/struggle in their identity as a woman and/or the socialization as a woman/girl and want to work through that power/question/struggle in an expansive community.
